Mike Simonsen is one of the most influential housing market analysts in the country. A true data geek, Mike founded Altos Research in 2006 to bring data and insight on the U.S. housing market to those who need it most. Mike led and grew Altos as CEO for 16 years. In 2022 Altos was acquired by HW Media, with the vision that media and data uniquely combine to bring people ‍ of the real estate industry. Mike now leads HousingWire’s data strategy and research group. His insights have been featured in the New York Times, The Financial Times, The Atlantic, Bloomberg and many of the biggest business and current events podcasts.

Mike Simonsen's Experience's

Mike’s entire career has been focused on creating software that communicates data effectively. A lifelong entrepreneurial spirit, he spent years in the venture funded startup trenches of Silicon Valley and was recently president of the Entrepreneur's Organization (EO) San Francisco chapter. He has a degree from the University of Nevada and an MBA from Chicago’s DePaul University.
